FIRST TURBINE GOES UP AT WOOLLEY HILL

A new landmark has begun to appear on the Huntingdonshire skyline with the erection of the first of four turbines at Woolley Hill Wind Farm, off the A14 near Ellington.

If the weather continues to be favourable, the other three turbines should appear before the end of November. A period of testing and commissioning will then follow.

The wind farm is on track to be fully operational in early 2015, triggering a community benefits package that includes a £20,000 Community Benefit Fund to support local projects and RES' Local Electricity Discount Scheme, which offers £100 per year off the electricity bills of almost 300 properties within two kilmoetres of the turbines.

With an installed capacity of 10MW, Woolley Hill Wind Farm will be capable of generating sufficient renewable electricity to meet the average needs of around 8,000 homes.*
