16 JULY 2014:
CLG INSPECT TURBINE FOUNDATION PROGRESS

Members of the Woolley Hill Community Liaison Group visited site on Wednesday 16th July to see how RES was progressing with the foundations for the four turbines.

Noel Breslin, RES Site Manager, commented: "Not many people have the opportunity to see what goes on under the surface at a wind farm. We were delighted to welcome members from Barham & Woolley, Spaldwick and Ellington parish councils to the site and to show them how turbine foundations are constructed."

The visitors were able to see a foundation excavation, the steel reinforcement in place in preparation for concrete pouring, and a foundation with the concrete base poured. Each foundation at Woolley Hill comprises approximately 700 tons of concrete. Once the foundations are complete, the soil is backfilled and the land is reinstated up to the turbine base.

Turbine component deliveries are scheduled for the autumn and RES is planning to arrange another site visit for CLG members once the turbines are erected. If any member of the public would like to register an interest in attending a future site visit, please contact Alison Jones, Community Relations Manager.
